German Chocolate Cookies

German Chocolate Cookies

So I wouldn’t say that I am one of those people that LOVE chocolate but I do like it from time to time! I actually am not even a huge chocolate cake person. Honestly…95% of the time I will choose vanilla over chocolate! That other 5% is normally because there is a German chocolate cake somewhere and I will hands down choose that over vanilla! So why not have my favorite cake on the go with these German Chocolate Cookies!

I absolutely LOVE these Cookies despite my only “Like” toward chocolate!! 🙂 Actually I may even like them better than the cake! They are a super moist, cake like cookie only with a little but of a chew! OH… and the the caramelized, coconut, pecan glaze.. .literally the icing on the cake.. or “Cookie”. 😉

German Chocolate Cookies

The icing may be why I like German chocolate cake so well! I also discovered that I must like coconut a lot as you can see with my other post…Italian Cream Cookies, Samoa Cheese Pie, and some of my favorite Coconut balls I hope to bring to you this spring sometime! Just keep your eye out for those if you like coconut as well as I Do!

Making the German Chocolate Cookies…

  1. Cream your butter and sugar together
  2. Add eggs and vanilla
  3. Sift Together all remaining dry ingredients

4. Using a medium Size Cookie scoop; Scoop out dough onto large Cookie sheet and bake 8-9 minutes!

5. Once all cookies are baked; then make your glaze and coat your cookies!

One bonus with these cookies is that you can stack them Since it is made with a glaze vs. a gooey icing! I love that I can stack these and store in my cookie jar; that is if we don’t eat them all first! :0

Amazing! My husband loves German chocolate cake with coconut pecan frosting. I made these as his birthday treat. He immediately paired the cookies with a cup of coffee!

I found your recipe last year and we have 3 German chocolate cake fans in the family. I made these with our other Christmas cookies and they were a hit. I’m making again this year and family members are already asking for these again! They will forever be apart of our Christmas cookie repertoire. Thank you!!
