After a month and a half of not posting…I finally determined to set and load a new Recipe for an easy Zesty Italian Sausage And Rice Skillet!
With the intense recipe over load from Easter, I decided that I needed a break and not to mention we have just been busy! You would think that with all this tine we’ve been spending at home that things would slow down but truthfully I think we have taken advantage of the time and have been busier with the needed upkeep around the house, painting, landscaping, Planting our garden and just spending time together as a family!

During all of our busyness, I try to have some kind of dinner for my Family ready even if it is just hot Dogs and chips or a Frozen Pizza! :0
Today’s recipe came about as I was trying to think of something EASY one evening, and I was craving something tangy.. yet savory. I went to the pantry and pulled out a Zesty Italian packet and some Italian kielbasa from the Fridge, which was due to the fact that Our grocery’s meat section was wiped out! At this point I’ll take what I can get from the grocery and try to run with it! 🙂
That’s exactly what I had to do with what I had and “think outside the box”, which brought about this new, easy and Delicious Italian Sausage and Rice Skillet!
Making Zesty Italian Sausage and Rice
- Slice Kielbasa into about 1/2 in thickness
- In a large Skillet; cook Sausage over medium high heat for 5-7 minutes or until cooked through and starting to brown; remove from Skillet, cover and set aside.
- Rinse 1 1/4 Cup of Rice with Cool water; then add to the same skillet that that you cooked the sausage.
- Toss rice in grease over medium high heat for 1 minute, then add 2 1/4 Cup of chicken broth.
- Bring rice to Boil; cover and lower heat to a simmer,
- Cook for 13-15 minutes(until all water has cleared); Remove from heat and cool for 5 minutes covered.
- Remove from Skillet and place in the refrigerator to cool while cooking vegetables.
- Dice Peppers and onions.
- Still using the same skillet; add 1/2 Tablespoon of oil and heat over medium heat.
- Add peppers and onions and saute 1-2 minutes, then add 1 pressed or chopped clove of garlic and Banana Pepper Ring until just heated through.
- Toss in Rice, Sausage, Italian Seasoning and 1 Cup of mozzarella cheese and heat through 1-2 minutes..
- Garnish with remaining cheese and optional fresh parsley.
I personally love how this has such a unique and tangy taste, its Easy and a budget friendly Meal! This is now a recipe favorite of ours that will be on our normal meal rotation! Hope you love this as well!
