Ham and Cheese Potato Au Gratin

Ay Gratin
- 4 1/2 Cups Russet potatoes Cubed
- 1 Cup Diced Ham
- 1/4 Cup Butter
- 1/2 Cup Diced onions
- 1 Clove Garlic Pressed/ minced
- 3 T. Flour
- 1/8 tsp Salt and Pepper
- 3 Cups Milk Divided
- 1 1/2 Cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese
Bread Topping
- 5 Slices White bread Cut into bite size squares
- 1 Tablespoon Parsley
- 1 tsp. Paprika
- 3 Tablespoons Melted butter
Preheat oven to 350- Oil a medium Size casserole dish.
Peel,rinse and slice potatoes into small cubes. To slice into cubes Slice your potatoes into sticks then cut into cubes. Place in medium mixing bowl along with your diced ham.
Heat butter in a medium size skillet over medium low heat. Add diced onion and cook till tender about 4-5 minutes, add garlic and cook for another minute.
Whisk in your flour and salt and pepper; whisk for about 1 minutes then Pour in JUST 2 1/2 Cups of your milk. Whisk until it starts to thicken over medium heat for about 5-7 minutes.
Lastly whisk in your shredded Cheese till combined. Remove from heat and pour over potatoes. Add remaining 1/2 Cup of milk and mix well. Pour into your Casserole dish.
Cover tightly with foil and place in oven and cook for 1 1/2 hours.
Remove from oven and cover with Seasoned bread; place back in oven and bake an additional 5-7 Minutes until Bread is a golden color. Remove and Serve.
Bread Topping
Slice Bread into small squares (see pictures above if needed). Place into a small mixing bowl.
Mix your spices into your bread then slowly poor butter over the bread while mixing until all the bread is well coated. Spread over Casserole dish.
